“The conclusion I have reached is that, above all, dogs are witnesses. They are allowed access to our most private moments. They are there when we think we are alone. Think of what they could tell us. They sit on the laps of presidents. They see acts of love and violence, quarrels and feuds, and the secret play of children. If they could tell us everything they have seen, all of the gaps of our lives would stitch themselves together.” ~ Carolyn Parkhurst, The Dogs of Babel
Just last week we added a new pup to our family. Misha, who is now 10 weeks old, 12 pounds of love, and quite full of himself is now a proud member of our household. We have have Newfoundlands for over 30 years. While some have moved over the rainbow, we still have our beautiful Newfi girl, Zoey, and what she believes is her sister, a 218# English Mastiff named Mattie. Now we have Misha, who believes he is the same size. So far we have been careful not to bruise his ego and have been careful that he doesn’t become an appetizer for Mattie. They have shared the usual greetings that one would expect. So we believe that this will work our and the we will not have to perform a Heimlich maneuver to retrieve our new fur-ball.
Precious, Bill! Whatever would we do without our furry friends?….. Welcome Misha!!
Uncomplicated love ! The mastiff has no idea of his size either so they are the perfect match 🙂
Love love love your new baby!! He’s got very wise eyes – I think he knows his size, but his heart is bigger!!
OMG how cute!!!!!! Enjoy!
Misha is gorgeous, Bill. Congratulations!
That’s quite a portrait. Enjoy your new friend.
How lucky you are – a puppy !!! Out of seventeen dogs I’ve only had one puppy – the rest were rescued. Your little darling looks both wise and innocent…and utterly cuddle-able – what fun you’re all going to have !!
