Being responsible for your own happiness . . .

“Other people think exactly the opposite: they surrender themselves without a second thought, hoping to find in passion the solutions to all their problems. They make the other person responsible for their happiness and blame them for their possible unhappiness. They are either euphoric because something marvelous has happened or depressed because something unexpected has just ruined everything.” ~ Paulo Coelho

  1. I think that’s why people have such a tough time after a breakup or a marriage, because they invest so much of their happiness or the responsibility of their happiness on someone else, when it really is supposed to come from within. When we take our own responsibility, we can achieve more and not be restricted.

    1. I have see this often in the home, in the workplace with many types of relationships. Many don’t fully understand that they are the only one that is responsible for their own happiness. Thanks for your comment. Take care.

  2. I love your photograph to accompany your words of wisdom. The blame game is definitely a human trait. I think it is easier to blame somebody else than self, which is why so many people relinquish control over their own futures.
