You might suppose

When you ride in a boat and watch the shore, you might assume that the shore is moving. But when you keep your eyes closely on the boat, you can see that the boat moves. Similarly, if you examine many things with a confused mind, you might suppose that your mind and nature are permanent. But when you practice intimately and return to where you are, it will be clear that there is nothing that has unchanging self. – Dogen

Twinkling Stars

Today we lost a very special friend, who was found on the streets of our town almost one year ago. He was the most gentle, loving dog I have even known. His bond with my wife, Linda, was beyond description and lasted until his passing over the rainbow this afternoon. Baxter will always be loved . . .We miss you friend

“When you look to the heavens each night,

And observe a sea of white,

Take Comfort in knowing that I am not alone.

For each twinkling star burning bright,

Is a furry friend of mine shining his light,

So their loved ones on earth know too

that they have come home.”

~ Cathy Blay

When all this started

“When all this started, I asked myself, ‘Am I going to withdraw from the world, like most people do, or am I going to live?’ I decided I am going to live-or at least try to live-the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure.” ~ Mitch Alborn

Key to life

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I wrote down ‘happy’.  They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life” ~ John Lennon
