“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~ Emerson

Exactly – as my heroine ironically says, “Ruin one thing properly before you move on to the next…”
I totally agree!
Thanks for great advice Bill – nice to meet you. Regards, Dave
I had this quote framed in my office right by the door for years..That way people saw it as they were leaving…
Mimi, It is also one of my favorites and have found it inspiring with other colleagues. In an academic medical center that is so intensely focused on curing cancer it helps keep life in perspective. Thanks, Bill
And I would add ‘Let not the sun go down upon thy wrath’. In other words, sort it before you go to bed, or it will hang on into the next day.
Good advice Pat!
I like the photo that goes with the quote – the ramshackle house that needs attention – no stress, it can wait until tomorrow.
you have a talent for matching the images with the words.
Thanks Elizabeth. Sometimes we move everything into that urgent and important box and place undue stress upon our selves. There are things that are important but don’t have to be done today as they may require some additional thinking and planning. Be well, Bill
